COLLEGE STATION – After one of the most decorated seasons in school history, Texas A&M junior center Kelsey Bone was honored Tuesday as a Third Team All-American by the Associated Press.
Bone, one of only three SEC players to be honored by the AP, scored the fourth most points in a single season in program history with 582, while ranking third in the SEC at 16.6 points per game. Additionally, the Houston native pulled down 326 rebounds to rank second in the A&M single season record books and place second in the SEC averaging 9.3 rebounds per contest.
Behind Bone's strong and consistent play the Aggies earned a program-best eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament while claiming the school's first SEC team championship by winning the league's post-season tournament in Duluth, Ga. Among Bone's highlights was a career-high 33-point outburst in the World Vision Classic in Las Vegas against Old Dominion, one of her SEC-leading two 30-point outings on the year. The center also recorded an Aggie Reed Arena-record 17 rebounds against Ole Miss in late February.
Bone became the third Aggie to garner AP All-America recognition, joining A&M legends Danielle Adams (2011, First Team; 2010 Honorable Mention) and Lisa Branch (1996, Honorable Mention).
