NEW ORLEANS – Texas A&M women are ranked No. 2 nationally with the Aggie men No. 5 for the 2014 indoor track and field season based on the preseason computer rankings generated by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Leading the women's rankings is Texas with A&M second while Florida, Oregon and Georgia round out the top five teams. Three more SEC schools follow with Kentucky at No. 6, Arkansas and LSU at No. 7 and No. 8 while Stanford and Kansas round out the top 10.
Defending NCAA Indoor champion Arkansas tops the men's list with Florida, Oregon, Wisconsin and the Aggies among the top five teams. The rest of the top 10 includes Penn State, Florida State, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Oklahoma State.
The national team rankings will be complied by mathematical formulae based on the national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons. For the preseason ranking and early-season rankings, data will be taken from previous seasons as well as the current season.
