TUCSON, Ariz. — The Texas A&M men's golf team is back in action this weekend as it takes part in the 2014 National Invitational Tournament hosted by the University of Arizona.
The event will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Omni Tucson National with competition on the par-72, 7,094-yard Catalina Course.
“We have had a lot of success at Tucson National in the past both in the regular season and advancing out of the regional held here a few years ago,” Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. “It is a terrific event with another strong field of teams. It will be good for us to get back out there and compete.”
In addition to the Aggies, who are ranked ninth nationally by GolfWeek, the 14-team field features Arizona, No. 3 California, Marquette, No. 20 New Mexico, New Mexico State, No. 2 Oklahoma State, San Diego, San Diego State, SMU, TCU, No. 24 UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming.
A dozen players ranked in the top 50 of the GolfWeek individual rankings will tee off at the event, including Aggie sophomore Ben Crancer, who ranks 14th nationally.
Joining Crancer in the Texas A&M line-up at the event will be senior Johannes Veerman, juniors Ty Dunlap and Greg Yates and sophomore Adrià Arnaus. Sophomore Andrew Lister, meanwhile, will compete as an individual.
The tournament will tee off Friday morning at 9 a.m. (CT) with the Aggies stepping to the tee box alongside golfers from Arizona and Cal. Live scoring for the event will be available at GolfStat.com.
