Play Suspended in SEC Championship First Round

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Texas A&M women's golf team faced a four hour rain delay and a difficult golf course Friday at the Greystone Golf and Country Club in the opening round of the SEC Championship. The Aggies finished day one in tenth place, 11 strokes behind first-day leader Arkansas.

The par-72, 6,050-yard Founders Course proved difficult for the field with every team finishing day one over par. The Aggies will wait until the rest of the field finishes round one before teeing off for round two.

Arkansas (+6) still has holes to finish in round as they sit atop the leaderboard. Trailing the Razorbacks are LSU, Auburn, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Florida and A&M to round out the top-10. Completing the leaderboard is Ole Miss, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi State.

Individually, the Aggies are led by a pair of freshman at three-over par in Marijosse Navarro and Bianca Fabrizio in a tie for 22nd. Senior Chelsea Mocio is just two strokes behind in a tie for 34th. Completing the maroon and white contingent are freshman Andrea Jonama and senior Katerina Ruzickova, in a tie for 38th and 45th respectively.
