Under the direction of third-year head coach Howard Joffe and associate head coach Mark Weaver, the Aggies went 21-7 overall in 2014, including 14-7 against ranked opponents. It marks the second consecutive year and the eighth time overall A&M has posted 20 or more victories in a season.
The Aggies made a 15th consecutive and 20th overall appearance in the NCAA tournament and were seeded No. 10 in the 64-team field. They advanced to the NCAA Championship round of 16 for the second consecutive year and the third time in program history before falling to eventual runner-up North Carolina, which fell to UCLA in the national championship match and placed No. 3 in the final ranking.
The Southeastern Conference placed five teams in the final Top 25: Georgia (4), Florida (5), Alabama (6), Texas A&M (9) and Vanderbilt (11). South Carolina, Auburn, Ole Miss and Kentucky occupy the Nos. 26-29 spots, respectively.
The Aggie men's team is No. 10 in the final rankings, and A&M joins Georgia, North Carolina, UCLA and Virginia as the only teams in the nation to have both their men's and women's tennis programs in the top 10 in the final rankings.
The ITA singles and doubles rankings will be released June 4, along with the final regional rankings.
