FAYETTEVILLE – Texas A&M's postseason trek continues with the NCAA West preliminary rounds this Thursday through Saturday at John McDonnell Field where the Aggies have 22 men and 22 women entered in the meet.
With 44 athletes Texas A&M totals 58 NCAA entries among 33 events. The A&M men, ranked No. 2 nationally, have 27 entries in 16 events while the Aggie women, ranked No. 4 nationally, have 31 entries in 17 events. The women's total includes heptathlete Jena Hemann, who has already qualified for the NCAA Championship in Eugene.
Competition at the University of Arkansas this weekend will trim the field down from 48 to 12 in each individual event, and from 24 to 12 in relays, for the NCAA Championship weekend held at Hayward Field from June 11 to 14.

In the NCAA West region the Aggies have nine event leaders along with 21 other entries currently ranked among the top 12 in their respective events.
Among the A&M event leaders Olivia Ekponé is the current world leader in the 200 meters with a 22.23 while current collegiate leaders include Deon Lendore (44.36) in the 400, Wayne Davis II (13.23) in the 110 hurdles and Shelbi Vaughan (208-8) in the discus. Each of those marks is an Aggie school record and earned a position among the all-time collegiate top 10 list. The A&M women's 4x100 leads the collegiate ranks with a time of 43.11.
NCAA West individual event leaders also include Prezel Hardy, Jr. (20.14) in the 200 and Janeil Bellille (55.67) in the 400 hurdles. The Aggies also lead two more relay events with the men's 4x100 (38.30) and 4x400 (3:01.19) and the women's 4x400 (3:28.59) ranks second.
Texas A&M women sport five entries each in the 100 and 200 meters as well as four jumpers in the triple jump. The Aggie men have four entries in the 400 meters with three entries apiece in the 100 and 200.
Ekponé (11.11) in the 100, Shamier Little (56.01) in the 400 hurdles and LaQue Moen-Davis (44-6.75) in the triple jump enter the meet with the second best performance this season among the NCAA West entries. On the men's side individuals with the third best mark include Shavez Hart (20.35) in the 200, Bralon Taplin (45.66) in the 400 and Devin Bogert (239-6) in the javelin.
Field event action on Thursday for A&M includes the women's javelin (noon), men's pole vault (2 p.m.), women's long jump (2 p.m.), men's javelin (5:30 p.m.), men's long jump (6:30 p.m.), women's shot put (6:30 p.m.) and women's pole vault (6:30 p.m.).
In action for the Aggies in the field events are Kendall Munoz (155-1) and Krystyn Bradley (150-4) in the women's javelin with Bogert (239-6) in the men's javelin. The pole vault includes Chase Wolfle (18-3) in the men's event and Brittany Wooten (13-5.75) in the women's vault. Brea Garrett (51-7.75) competes in the shot put. A&M's entries in the long jump include Olabanji Asekun (25-7.25) in the men's field and Moen-Davis (20-7.25) in the women's field.
Thursday track events, which start at 4:30 p.m., include A&M in the 400 hurdles, 100, 400 and 800 meters. The top three in each heat, plus the next nine fastest times from six heats advance to the quarterfinals held on Friday.
Bellille and Little are the top two seeds in the 400 hurdles. Little will run in heat 4 from lane 8 while Bellille is in heat 6 with lane 5. In the 100 the Aggies are paired up in a couple of heats. Ekponé and Jennifer Madu (11.33) run in heat 1 while Ashton Purvis (11.44) and Aaliyah Brown (11.20) are in heat 3. Ashley Collier is in heat 6 next to Regine Williams of Arkansas (11.29).
Ibukun Mayungbe (53.25) is the lone A&M entry in the 400, where she is in lane 6 of heat 3 stationed between Brianna Nelson of Texas (51.33) and Texas Tech's Montenae Roye-Speight (52.78). Katie Willard (2:07.41) is competing in the third heat of the 800.
Gregory Coleman (49.88) will race in the first heat of the 400 hurdles while Kenneth Minkah (51.32) is in heat 4. The 100 trio of Hardy (10.19), Hart (10.18) and Michael Bryan (10.44) are in heats 1-3-4.
In the men's 400, Carlyle Roudette (45.77) will run in heat 2, lane 4, as he is stationed to inside of Stanford's Steven Solomon (45.76). Taplin (45.66) and Aldrich Bailey, Jr. (47.12) are in the same heat, running in lanes 5 and 7 in heat 3. Lendore will race in heat 6 from lane 9. The first heat in the 800 will have Hector Hernandez (1:47.73) and Josh Hernandez (1:49.71) racing together.
The semifinals of the 10,000 will be held at 9:40 p.m. for the women. The top 12 from these races earn a berth into the NCAA Championship field in Eugene. Running for the Aggies are Hillary Montgomery (34:01.54) and Karis Jochen (34:41.86), who placed seventh and eighth in the SEC final.
