Crancer Honored as Honorable Mention All-American

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M golfer Ben Crancer received honorable mention All-America accolades from GolfWeek following an impressive sophomore campaign on the links.

During his second year at Texas A&M, Crancer showed great improvement from his rookie year as the Kirkwood, Mo., product paced the Aggies with a 72.05 scoring average while sharing the team lead with five top-10 finishes.

Crancer turned heads around the country during fall when he set a Texas A&M men's golf record for 54-hole score vs. par at 16-under while claiming individual medalist honors at the Dick's Challenge (Sept 20-21). Adding to an already impressive accomplishment, the second-year Aggie became the first Texas A&M golfer to finish a 54-hole tournament in less than 200 strokes to garner National Player of the Week recognition from GolfWeek on Sept. 23.

Carrying the confidence of his impressive performance at the Dick's Challenge into the Aggies' next tournament, Crancer carded another top-10 finish by ending play in a tie for eighth at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Vestavia Hills, Ala.

In late October during the Aggies' final event of the fall, Crancer ended the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate at six-under par to tie for 10^th place honors.

During Aggies' lone home tournament of the year in early April, Crancer helped Texas A&M share the top spot on the leaderboard at the Aggie Invitational by finishing in fourth individually at three-over par during a rainy weekend at Traditions Club.

Crancer is one of three Aggies who played at least 13 events last season set to return for the 2014-15 campaign when the Aggies will aim to extend their school record streak of NCAA Championship appearances to eight consecutive seasons.
