COLLEGE STATION — As the Texas A&M men's golf team prepares to tee off its fall campaign this weekend, a pair of Aggies have received national accolades from Golfweek, including a pair of selections to preseason All-America teams.
Junior Ben Crancer, who garnered honorable mention All-America status after his breakout sophomore campaign, was named as a second team preseason All-American, while freshman Cameron Champ was a third-team selection.
Crancer, a product of Kirkwood, Mo., played a team-high 40 rounds a year ago while leading Aggies with a 72.05 scoring average and sharing the team lead with five top-10 finishes.
Meanwhile, Champ, a 6-foot freshman from Sacramento, Calif., is already earning headlines before ever taking a swing for the Aggies. In addition to the preseason All-America honor, Champ was selected as the No. 3 incoming freshman in America by Golfweek, as well as one of the Top 2014 Freshmen by Golfweek's Andy Zunz.
The Texas A&M men's golf team tees off its 2014-15 campaign on Sunday when it travels to Springfield Township, N.J., to face Princeton in a dual match on Baltusrol Golf Club.
