ITA Announces Preseason Rankings and All-American Field

The Texas A&M men's tennis team is well represented on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Preseason Rankings list with a trio of Aggies ranked in both singles and doubles, announced Monday afternoon by the ITA. The maroon and white will also be well represented at the ITA Men's All-American Championships with a pair selected for the main draw in Tulsa, Okla.

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's tennis team is well represented on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Preseason Rankings list with a trio of Aggies ranked in both singles and doubles, announced Monday afternoon by the ITA. The maroon and white will also be well represented at the ITA Men's All-American Championships with a pair selected for the main draw in Tulsa, Okla.

Junior All-American Harrison Adams led the charge for A&M at No. 11 on the list. Adams, who played the No. 1 line for the Aggies last spring, went 5-2 in SEC matches and 14-8 in dual matches. The New Braunfels, Texas native rang up a team-leading nine wins against ranked opponents. Adams garnered All-SEC First Team honors last year.

Fellow junior All-American Shane Vinsant came in just four spots later at No. 15. Vinsant finished the 2014 regular-season on a 12-match winning streak in singles play and went undefeated at 8-0 in SEC matches. The Keller, Texas native garnered MVP and SEC-All Tournament team honors for his undefeated play in Nashville at the 2014 SEC Championship. Vinsant earned All-SEC recognition last year.

Senior Jeremy Efferding begins the season ranked within the top-50 at No. 46. Efferding went an impressive 7-1 against league opponents last season to earn All-SEC second team honors. The then junior led the team lead with 20 dual wins in singles competition. The Boca Raton, Fla. native teamed with Jordan Szabo to finish 18-4 in doubles matches and 7-1 in SEC action.

Adams and Vinsant combine to lead the Aggies in the doubles rankings at No. 23, the pair have tallied 38 dual victories together since arriving Aggieland. Senior All-American Jackson Withrow is ranked No. 25 alongside new partner and freshman AJ Catanzariti. Rounding out the A&M doubles ranked contingent is Efferding and Szabo duo at a tie for 37th.

For the eighth straight year, the University of Tulsa will be the site of the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships. The tournament kicks off with prequalifying matches starting on Sept. 27, while the main draw is set to begin on Oct. 2.

The ITA announced that Adams and Vinsant will be a part of the main draw, with Efferding listed as part of the qualifying draw and the main draw number five alternate. All three A&M doubles teams are listed on the qualifying draw for the doubles competition with Adams/Vinsant and Withrow/Catanzariti listed as alternates for the main draw.
