COLLEGE STATION – Weather issues delayed the Texas A&M Men's Tennis teams first tournament of the fall season at the Midland Racquet Club Invitational Friday in Midland, TX.
The tournament consists of both singles and doubles competition, each five rounds long. Senior Max Montague, sophomores Max Lunkin and Frankie Colunga and redshirt freshman Jett Cash will represent the Maroon & White in the Tall City.
Colunga advanced to the second round despite multiple delays, the sophomore defeated Mario Muniesa of UT-Arlington 4-6, 6-2 (11-9). Next up for the College Station native is Tin Ostojic of Wichita State.
Lunkin fell to Tomislav Gregurovic of Wichita State in straight sets, 6-3 7-5. Gregurovic moves on to face Michael Riechman of Texas.
Lunkin and Colunga are slated to take on Texas Tech's Nicholas Melott and Carlos DiLaura in the doubles bracket. Montague and Cash are set to challenge Tulsa's tandem of Carlos Bautista and Matthew Kirby on the other side of the doubles bracket.
The Aggies are coming off of a 2013-2014 campaign in which they went 25-7 and went on to win the SEC Tournament Championship.
