COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's tennis team struggled in day two of the Midland Racquet Club Invitational Friday in Midland, TX. Despite the struggle, sophomores Frankie Colunga and Max Lunkin advanced to the semi-finals of the doubles draw.
Colunga and Lunkin opened play defeating Jason Proctor and Henry Adams of Abilene Christian 7-6 to advance to face Michael Reichman and William Jou of Texas. The pair in maroon and white did not waiver defeating the state capital duo 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals of the main draw.
Singles results did not fall in the Aggies favor on the rainy day. Colunga was defeated by No. 1-seeded Tin Ostoric of Wichita State 8-3. Reichman exacted revenge on Lunkin for the doubles defeat with a win in the consolation bracket 8-2.
On the other side of the singles bracket senior Max Montague fell to Miroslav Herzan of WSU, while redshirt freshman Jett Cash was dispatched by Daniel Santos of Tulsa, 7-6.
Matches were delayed until 2 pm Saturday and shortened sets were played in order to complete the tournament on Sunday.
