COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M defender Leigh Edwards was named to the College Soccer 360 Primetime Performers Honor Roll #4 on Tuesday. The Aggie senior was one of 13 players named for the weekly honor roll.
Edwards helped lead Texas A&M to a pair of wins over defending conference champions last weekend, including a 2-1 win over Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday and a 3-0 win over Marquette on Sunday.
The victory on Sunday marked the third shutout of the season for the Aggies. With 27 minutes remaining in the contest, Edwards scored the second goal of the match with a missile from 25 yards out, the fifth goal of her career.
Against Florida Gulf Coast she helped hold Eagles' leading scorer Tabby Tindell without a shot.
Last season, Edwards earned All-SEC Second Team honors and was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Second Team.
Edwards currently ranks ninth in the nation among active players with 80 career matches. She has started 48 matches in her career, including all 33 the last two seasons.
This marks the second time this season an Aggie has earned the distinction. Kelley Monogue was named to the honor roll in the second week of the season.
Texas A&M returns to action tomorrow with a 6 pm match against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Aggies are 6-1-1 on the season, including a perfect 6-0-0 at home.
