Texas A&M's women's basketball team hosted the Third Annual Gary Blair Coaching Academy on Oct. 4-5, which saw over 100 basketball coaches from all levels of the game descend on College Station to learn from Women's Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Blair, his staff and guest speakers.
"We continue to be pleased with the success of our Coaching Academy," said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. "It gives us a wonderful opportunity to share Aggie Basketball with coaches on all levels so we can all work towards growing our game."
San Antonio Stars head coach Dan Hughes was the featured speaker, talking to the Academy on Saturday. Hughes has helped the Stars to 10 postseason appearances, including the 2014 WNBA Playoffs and the 2008 WNBA Finals.
Participants of the Academy received a Texas A&M highlight DVD, a DVD of the academy sessions, and the famed Texas A&M Coaching Notebook that includes tips on scouting, motivation, coaching philosophy, conditioning and practice drills.
The academy included sessions led by each of the Texas A&M women's basketball coaches, focusing on wide-ranging topics on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
