Women's Golf Finishes Third In Strong Field At Schooner Fall Classic

Texas A&M's women's golf team, facing a field that featured five other ranked schools, finished third at the Schooner Fall Classic with a three-round total of 838 (-2). The Aggies had their best round of the season so far on Monday at the Belmar Golf Club, shooting 274 (-6) in the event's final round.

“The team knew they needed to take advantage of the scoring conditions today,” said Texas A&M head women's golf coach Trelle McCombs. “I'm really proud of the way the rallied at the end today.”

Mississippi State took home the team title, posting a 818 (-22). Arkansas finished second with an 836 (-4), just two strokes ahead of the Aggies. Ally McDonald of Mississippi State shot 197 (-13) to take home medalist honors.

Two Aggies finished in the top 10 individually, with Maddie Szeryk continuing her run with a 69 (-1), marking her fifth straight par-or-better round. Szeryk finished the tournament with 205 (-5) strokes, good for a tie for fourth in the tournament.

Marijosse Navarro, who finished sixth in the tournament, posted the Aggies' low round of the day, shooting a 66 (-4) after birdies on her first three holes. Navarro, competing in her first tournament this season, posted three par-or-better rounds in the event to shoot 206 (-4).

Thanya Pattamakijsakul shot a collegiate-career best 67 (-3) to finish in a tie for 31st in the tournament, with a three-day total of 213 (+3). Pattamakijsakul bogeyed Hole No. 1, then bounced back with four birdies and no bogeys the rest of the way.

Bianca Fabrizio shot a 72 (+2), bringing her tournament total to 217 (+7). Andrea Jonama rounded out the Aggies' lineup with a 76 (+6) on the day and a 222 (+12) for the tournament.

The Aggies return to action at the Alamo Invitational (Oct. 26-28) in San Antonio, Texas at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course.
