ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Fifteen of the country's top golf squads, including the Texas A&M men's golf team, will be in action this weekend at the ninth annual United States Collegiate Championship which gets underway Friday at the Golf Club of Georgia.
The tournament will be the Aggies' fifth and final event of the fall semester as Texas A&M will not return to the links until Feb. 2-3 during the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
“The US Collegiate Championship is quite possibly the best event of the fall and we look forward to it every year,” Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. “The course is terrific and always in great shape, the field is incredibly strong and the tournament is run like a tour event. We have been playing really well at home and now it's time for us to take it on the road and show our true capabilities. We are looking forward to a great week.”
The 15-team field at the event consists of Auburn, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Kent State, LSU, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, Virginia, Wake Forest and Washington. Among the impressive field, 10 schools are represented in the most recent GCAA Top 25 poll.
The championship course will play at 7,017 yards this weekend with a par of 72.
Representing the Aggies at the event will be senior Greg Yates, juniors Adrià Arnaus and Andrew Lister, as well as freshmen Connor Black and Andrew Paysse.
