Doubles Draw
WACO, Texas –Texas A&M's Ines Deheza and Rachel Pierson will compete in the doubles championship match at the women's ITA/USTA Regional Championships after defeating Baylor's Kelley Anderson and Blair Shankle in a thrilling 6-4, 4-6, 13-11 semifinal match today at the Hurd Tennis Center.
“Ines and Rachel acquitted themselves rather well considering they are playing together for the first time,” A&M head coach Howard Joffe said. “No doubt fending off four match points and playing a nail-bitter will help their confidence and chemistry. Tomorrow they will face a strong and hungry TCU team and will need their skill and wits about them in order to be successful.”
The Aggie tandem will face TCU's Seda Arantekin and Stefanie Tan in the final match, Monday at 9 a.m. The winner receives and automatic berth in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 6-9 in Flushing, N.Y.
