WACO, Texas –Texas A&M's Ines Deheza and Rachel Pierson won the doubles title at the women's ITA/USTA Regional Championships, defeating TCU's Seda Arantekin and Stefanie Tan in the finals, 6-1, 6-4, today at the Hurd Tennis Center.
“Ines and Rachel once again performed very well,” A&M coach Howard Joffe said. “It's obvious that they are already a good team, but with continued work and play together, I really feel like they have the ability to be an elite team.”
It was the fifth consecutive win for the Aggie pair, which had never competed together before entering the tournament. With today's victory, Deheza and Pierson receive an automatic entry to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 6-9 in Flushing, N.Y.
Next up for the Aggies is the Kramer Club Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.
