COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Despite playing on a senior-laden squad, all four of Texas A&M's true freshmen are drawing national attention. The quartet was named to the recently released TopDrawerSoccer.com Midseason Freshmen Top 100.
Defender McKayla Paulson was slotted at No. 8 with midfielder Mikaela Harvey at No. 33, forward Haley Pounds at No. 59 and midfielder Stephanie Malherbe at No. 91.
Texas A&M was one of just six teams to have four or more players listed on the Freshman Top 100. Georgia led all teams with five and Auburn, California, Duke and Penn State boasted four apiece.
Paulson started all 14 matches on the Aggies' backline before suffering an ankle injury at the end of a 6-2 win at Vanderbilt. Harvey has worked through two injuries this season, appearing in 10 matches with eight starts, and she has assisted on two goals. Malherbe has played in all 16 matches with four starts, logging two assists. Pounds has also played in all 16 matches, starting three, and she has registered one goal and one assist.
The Aggies are 13-2-1 on the season and sit alone atop the SEC standings with a 7-1-0 record.
