Maroon and White Championship Series Starts on Monday

Texas A&M's fall practice session and the chase for the Omaha Cup will wrap up with next week's Maroon and White Championship Series beginning on Monday.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M's fall practice session and the chase for the Omaha Cup will wrap up with next week's Maroon and White Championship Series beginning on Monday.

The best-of-five series will feature games on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with “if necessary” games lined up for Thursday and Friday. Start times for all games in the series are 3 pm.

As has become tradition under head coach Rob Childress, the Aggies will spend the fall competing internally for the Omaha Cup, a staple of the Texas A&M baseball culture. The event features the Aggies being split into different teams (Farmers and Plowboys) which compete against one another both on-and-off the field in order to sharpen the competitive nature and chemistry of the squad. Fall practices and scrimmages are once again be open to the public in the recently renovated Blue Bell Park.

The starting pitching matchups has been announced for the first three games of the Maroon and White Championship Series. Grayson Long (Farmers) and A.J. Minter (Plowboys) will be the starting pitchers on Monday. Matt Kent (Farmers) and Ryan Hendrix (Plowboys) square off on Tuesday and Turner Larkins (Farmers) and Tyler Stubblefield (Plowboys) will match up on Wednesday.

The Aggies are coming off a 36-26 season and extended their school-record streak to eight consecutive trips to the NCAA Championship in 2014.
