COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Numerous promotions and activities benefitting worthy causes will take place this weekend at Reed Arena as No. 24 Texas A&M plays host to the Georgia Bulldogs, Friday at 6 p.m., and then returns to the court on Sunday at 11 a.m. to play host to 16th-ranked Kentucky.
In conjunction with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, A&M's annual “Dig Pink” match will be Friday, and anyone wearing pink to the match can purchase a ticket for only $3. In addition, the first 250 fans will receive a free Dig Pink T-shirt.
There also will be a silent auction held on the concourse to benefit the Side-Out Foundation, which awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing patient services to breast cancer patients and their families. Items up for auction include an autographed volleyball, two tickets to the A&M men's basketball game against Kentucky, two tickets to the Texas A&M-Missouri football game, as well as other Aggie gear and memorabilia.
Come early on Friday and join Aggie volleyball head coach Laurie Corbelli for “Chalk Talk” beginning 40 minutes prior to the match in the volleyball practice gym. Coach Corbelli will go over the team's game plan against Georgia, as well as discuss how the team is progressing as it nears the halfway point of the SEC season.
Stay after the match for the A&M's men's basketball Maroon & White scrimmage, slated to begin at 8 p.m.
Sunday's top-25 showdown match will be an “Aggies CAN” event, and fans who donate two canned food items at the door will receive free admission and a coupon courtesy of Whataburger.
A Fall Festival will be held on the concourse, and kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the activities, which include pumpkin painting, face painting Halloween treats and more.
In addition, every Sunday is “Take a Kid to the Match” at Reed Arena. Four kids are admitted free with the purchase of one regular-priced adult ticket for that day's match.
