COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Over 60 Aggies from the past will convene on Blue Bell Park for the Former Players Home Run Derby and Game on Saturday at Blue Bell Park. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to attend.
On Saturday, the Former Players Home Run Derby is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. and the Former Players Game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
"This is a tremendous event, not only for our great fans, but for the players, staff and coaches involved with Aggie baseball both past and present," A&M head coach Rob Childress said. "This program has always been a family, and I think this event showcases that. We're all really looking forward to Saturday, and it's going to be a lot of fun."
The Aggies are proud to welcome back numerous players from the 1950s and 60s, including Rich Boring (`55), Don Chase (`60), Gary Herrington (`69), Bill Houchin (`60), Jerry Lastelick (`53), Wally Moon (`51), Ralph Plumlee (`60) and Guy Wallace (`51).
Four players with Major League playing experience are expected to be in attendance, including Matt Blank, Brandon Hicks, Wally Moon and Alex Wilson.
Also in attendance will be former Aggie head coach Mark Johnson who was recently inducted into the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame.
