COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's tennis amassed a dozen wins on day two of the 2014 Conference Challenge at the Mitchell Tennis Center Saturday. The Aggies tallied wins over athletes from Texas Tech, Illinois and LSU.
No. 15 Shane Vinsant celebrated his birthday with a pair of wins, defeating Tam Trinh of LSU and No. 44 Tim Kopinski of Illinois. No. 11 Harrison Adams matched the pair of wins, besting Kopinski and No. 6 Jared Hiltzik of Illinois.
Freshman AJ Catanzariti continued to impress this fall with wins over Boris Arias and No. 49 Chris Simpson, both of LSU. Senior Jordan Szabo joined the Aggie's two-win club, overpowering Ross Guignon of Illinois and Hunter Holman of Texas Tech.
Sophomore Max Lunkin was the final Aggie with a couple of wins Saturday, beating Nick Melott and Alex Buzelan of Texas Tech. No. 46 Jeremy Efferding opened the day with a win over Francisco Zambon of Tech, but was beaten by Justin Butsch of LSU in the afternoon session. Sophomore Frankie Colunga also split his matches on the day, going over on John Michael Busch of LSU and falling to Toshiki Matsuya of Illinois.
Senior Max Montague was defeated by Evan Nix of Tech and freshman Jett Cash lost to Eric Perez of LSU.
The 2014 Conference Challenge concludes Sunday morning at the Mitchell Tennis Center with round three of doubles action at 9 a.m. followed by a fourth round of singles matches slated for 10:30 a.m.
