COLLEGE STATION- Texas A&M junior guard Courtney Walker was named Preseason First Team All-SEC by the league's women's basketball coaches, while juniors Jordan Jones and Courtney Williams were named Preseason Second Team All-SEC in the same vote. The No. 5 Aggies were picked to finish third in the SEC in the same poll.
Walker, who received votes for Preseason SEC Player of the Year, averaged 15.6 points per game in 2013-14, and was named an AP All-American. She has been named a Preseason All-American by Athlon, Lindy's and the Sporting News this season.
Jones was the SEC's Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2013-14, and set the Texas A&M single season record with 261 assists. Jones was named a Preseason First Team All-American by The Sporting News for this season.
Williams was named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2013-14, after averaging 13.9 points per game. She also has received Preseason All-America accolades, being named to the Sporting News' Second Team.
The Aggies were voted third in the SEC Preseason Poll, after finishing in a tie for second in the league in 2013-14. South Carolina, the league's champion in 2013-14, and Tennessee, who tied with Texas A&M for second place in 2013-14, finished first and second in the poll, respectively.
Points were compiled on a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. Each coach also voted for an eight-player All-SEC first team, an eight-player All-SEC second team and the Player of the Year. Coaches cannot vote for their own team or players and ties are not broken.
Texas A&M hosts Oklahoma City in an exhibition game Saturday, November 8 at 7 p.m. inside Reed Arena. The Aggies tip off the regular season at No. 18 DePaul on Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. on the Big East Digital Network.
