COLLEGE STATION- Courtney Walker was named the SEC's Player of the Week in women's basketball, after earning MVP honors of the Maggie Dixon Classic in Chicago.
Walker averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while playing 112 of 120 possible minutes to lead A&M to a 3-0 record to start the season. Walker's weekend was highlighted by a 25-point performance against No. 18 DePaul, giving the No. 5 Aggies a 76-68 victory in one of just two ranked games nationally in the sport's opening weekend.
Walker had her 50th career double figure scoring game against New Mexico on Saturday, scoring 20 points for a second time this year. She capped the weekend with 17 points against UTPA on Sunday, her 16th straight double figure scoring game. She needs just 10 points to become the 26th Aggie with 1,000 career points.
This is Walker's second career SEC Player of the Week honor.
The Aggies return to the court on Wednesday, November 19 inside Reed Arena, to host former Southwest Conference foe Rice at 7 p.m.
