Texas A&M women's golf team signed Emily Campbell (Carrollton, Texas) to a National Letter of Intent on Monday. Campbell, the top-ranked recruit from Texas and a Rolex Junior All-American, will enroll at Texas A&M for the 2015-16 season.
“I've known Emily and her family for 5 years now and I've already seen her grow up to become an outstanding young lady,” said Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs. “Emily has a passion for people and has one of the biggest hearts I know; she epitomizes a true Aggie.”
“She is not only competitive on the golf course but also in the classroom,” McCombs added. “Emily is going to bring so much to this team, with her desire to be the best, and her leadership qualities that I have already identified in her.”
In 2013, Campbell was named, along with future Aggie teammate Maddie Szeryk, a Rolex Junior All-American, which recognizes the world's premier junior golfers.
One of the top recruits in the world, Campbell ranks 16th on Golfweek's Top 50 recruits for 2015. She was as high as eighth in her class in Golfweek's high school rankings and as high as sixth in the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
She had 11 Top 10 finishes in her American Junior Golf Association Career, including a win in the Burgett H. Mooney Jr. Tournament in 2013, and second place finishes in the 2013 AJGA Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes, 2014 Scott Robertson Memorial and 2014 Huntsville Jr. AJGA Tournament.
