Pluhar Named SEC November Rider of the Month

Junior Logan Pluhar was one of five riders honored by the SEC, as announced on Wednesday.

COLLEGE STATION – The Southeastern Conference announced its November Riders of the Month on Tuesday, as determined by the SEC selection committee and honoring standout performances from the third month of the college equestrian season.

Junior Logan Pluhar was named the Horsemanship Co-Rider of the Month, along with Paige Stawicki of Georgia, after an extremely successful November. Pluhar was one of two members of A&M's horsemanship squad with wins against both No. 4 Auburn and No. 9 Georgia, where the Aggies came away with an 11-7 victory over the Bulldogs.

“I am very proud of the month that Logan had,” said horsemanship coach Jessie Weisinger. “She worked extremely hard during this month preparing for not only our meets against Auburn and Georgia winning her points at both meets, but also in preparation for the AQHA World Show Collegiate Challenge where she bested 14 other collegiate riders taking the Reserve Championship title.  Logan is a hard worker and great student in addition to being an accomplished rider and is very deserving of this award.”

Pluhar was also invited to compete at the AQHA Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge in November, where she advanced to the final round of competition and took home second place.  She is the third member of Texas A&M's equestrian team to compete at the event, following a first place finish by Carey Nowacek in the 2011 inaugural event and senior Molli Jacobs who took third place in 2013.

The Aggies were ranked eighth in the final NCEA rankings of 2014. The team will open up 2015 against New Mexico State and Delaware State on January 30-31 at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. Keep up with Aggie Equestrian at 12thMan.com and by following @AggieEquestrian on Twitter.
