Garrett named SN Freshman All-American
Dec 17, 2014 | Football
Garrett, from Arlington Martin High School, set the school and Southeastern Conference freshman quarterback sacks record with 11.0 in his first season in the maroon and white. He finished the regular season with 50 tackles, second-most among Aggie defensive linemen, with team bests in tackles for loss (12.5 — -67 yards) and nine QB hurries.
Garrett had matched the old Texas A&M QB sack record of 5.5 (held by All-Americans Damontre Moore and Sam Adams) by the third game of the season and took sole ownership in game 6 of 2014. In the ninth game of 2014 (fifth start), Garrett broke South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney's SEC freshman record of 8.0 sacks. He also owns Texas A&M's freshman standard for single game sacks with 3.5 against Louisiana-Monroe.
