Texas A&M Athletics has teamed up with the Student Senate to provide tickets for underprivileged children and non-profit organizations for several men's and women's basketball games from Dec. 30 to Jan. 19.
“The generosity of our student body has allowed us to create a fantastic program for organizations in our local community,” Texas A&M Director of Athletics Eric Hyman said. “We look forward to welcoming deserving groups to watch our exciting basketball teams at Reed Arena.”
This past summer, the Student Senate, under the leadership of Student Body President Kyle Kelly, decided to donate student tickets to groups in the community during the holiday break.
“At A&M we have a strong tradition of service to others,” said Kelly. “As students, we are short-term residents in the Bryan-College Station community. We hope this is one of many ways that express appreciation to our great community. Our hope is that kids and families are blessed this Christmas season by being able to be part of A&M and support Aggie Athletics. “
The Aggie men are 7-2 to start the season, including wins over Arizona State, New Mexico and College of Charleston. The A&M women's team is ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll, and have posted wins over No. 8 Duke and No. 18 DePaul on the way to a 11-0 start.
Organizations interested in receiving the donated tickets can contact Eric Trimborn, Assistant Director of Marketing & Promotions, at etrimborn@athletics.tamu.edu.
