Ruzickova Fifth at Florida State Match-Up

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Texas A&M senior Katerina Ruzickova shot three under par for the day to place fifth at the Florida State Match-Up, the Aggies finished fifth in the team standings.
Ruzickova (71-75-69=215, -1) recorded four birdies in the third round to capture the fifth place spot. Freshman Andrea Jonama (72-76-77=225, +9) tied for 25th individually, while freshmen Callie Scheffler (77-78-74=229, +13), Bianca Fabrizio (73-82-75=230, +14) and junior Natalie Reeves (79-78-75=232, +16) rounded out the A&M contingent.
“I am so proud of how Callie played today,” Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. “She hit the ball well all day but just couldn't get anything to fall. Kat was steady, as always. She displayed some awesome golf this week. She's on the brink of having an unbelievable tournament and bringing home a win.”
As a team, the Aggies (293-307-293=893, +29) were five on over par in Sunday's third round to finish the tournament in fifth place. Round two leader South Carolina (293-293-285=871, +7) held on to the lead and captured the team title, while Clemson (+9), Florida State (+17) and Virginia (+24) followed consecutively. Mississippi State (+31) ended the day in sixth as Mercer (+36), Furman (+36), Kansas (+57), Kansas State (+59) and Florida Gulf Coast (+63) brought up the rear.
“We played nicely today,” McCombs said. “I was proud of the girls and how they bounced back. I saw some great things out there.”
The Aggies are back in action Feb. 24-25 as they take part in the UC Irvine Invitational in Santa Ana, Calif.
