Texas A&M Women?s Tennis Under Armour Kick-Off Results

Returners Rutuja Bhosale, Stefania Hristov, Anna Mamalat and Mason Strickland, along with newcomers Eva Paalma and Rachel Pierson competed in the three-day event, facing players representing Alabama, Baylor, Southern California and Texas. A&M posted a combined 5-3 record in doubles and a 6-12 mark in singes.
"I was very impressed with the way our ladies competed, especially given the limited preparation we enjoyed going in,” said Howard Joffe, who is entering his fourth season as the Aggies' head coach. "Everyone chipped in with strong effort, but the play of Rachel Pierson and Eva Paalma was a highlight. Both represented the Aggies for the first time, and aside from the excellent tennis they showed, it was equally evident that we have added some high quality people to our group."

The Aggies return to action later this month as they compete in the 2014 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, Sept. 27-Oct. 4 in Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades, Calif. Pre-qualifying rounds will be played Sept. 27-28, followed by qualifying rounds, Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The main draw will be contested Oct. 2-5.
