Aggies Advances at ITA All-American Qualifying

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's tennis members advanced in both the qualifying singles and doubles bracket at the 2014 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa. The qualifying draws feed into the first men's national title of the fall season hosted by the ITA and the University of Tulsa.
Freshman AJ Catanzariti advanced with his second consecutive three-set win in the Sooner state. The Pittsburgh native bested David Biosca of East Tennessee State after dropping the first set. Catanzariti will face Chris Diaz of Ohio State with a spot in in Thursday's ITA All-American draw at stake.
The 37th-ranked duo of Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo also collected a pair of wins Tuesday, the A&M pair will play for a spot in Thursday's ITA-American doubles draw against 22nd-ranked Gonzales Austin and Rhys Johnson of Vanderbilt. Efferding and Szabo dispatched of Chris Simich and Albert Wagner of Louisville along with Gustav Hansson and Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss.
A&M's blue chip freshman, Catanzariti, partnered with Max Lunkin for a first-round win over John Patrick Mullane and Brett Forman of Michigan State in straight sets. The maroon and white clad tandem outlasted Francisco Dias and Julius Tverijonas of George Washington Tuesday afternoon. After splitting the first two sets the Aggie duo claimed the match in a super tie breaker.
A&M's junior duo of Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant were upset in the first round to Hunter Callahan and Chris Diaz of Ohio State.
For the 10th straight year, the University of Tulsa will host the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships at the state-of-the-art Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
