COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M freshman standout Mikaela Harvey was invited to the United States Under-20 Women's National Team training camp in Sanford, Florida, running from January 24-31.
Harvey was one of 28 players called up by U-20 head coach Michelle French. The age group is focusing on qualifying for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, which has an age cut-off of players born on or after January 1, 1996.
Battling through a pair of injuries, Harvey put forth a solid freshman campaign to help the Aggies make their first-ever College Cup appearance. Harvey appeared in 21 matches, including eight starts, as A&M repeated the SEC Double, earning a league regular-season title and winning the tournament crown with a 1-0 win against Kentucky. The Liberty Hill, Texas native notched two assists on the season.
The USA will play a pair of matches during the training camp. The first match will be against Frauen-Bundesliga side Bayern Munich on January 27 at 5 pm CT at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford. Bayern Munich, which starts several members of the full German Women's National Team, is second in the Frauen-Bundesliga behind current UEFA Women's Champions League holders VFL Wolfsburg.
The Red, White and Blue will also play the University of Florida in Sanford on January 30.
