Texas A&M women's basketball signees Anriel Howard and Danni Williams were named nominees for the 2015 McDonald's All-American game, which takes place in Chicago's United Center on April 1.
Howard and Williams are seeking to become the sixth and seventh females to play in the McDonald's All-American Game then play for Texas A&M. Active players Jordan Jones and Courtney Williams played in the game, along with former players Kelsey Bone, Karla Gilbert and Tyra White.
The list will be trimmed down from 823 nominees to 24 boys and 24 girls on the McDonald's All-American Games Selection Show on ESPNU on Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. CT.
“This is the first step for this talented recruiting class towards reaching a lifelong dream of many players. The McDonald's All American game is a special honor and I am thrilled for my incoming freshman to be a part of the process," said Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair. “We are extremely excited to have Anriel and Danni on campus next season to contribute to our team.”
Anriel Howard (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake HS), is a 6-0 forward, and rated as the 16th-best wing player by ESPN HoopGurlz in the 2015 class. She is a three-star ESPN HoopGurlz recruit, and was a two-time First Team All-Georgia selection.
Howard is averaging 25.5 points, 19.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks this season for Westlake.
Danni Williams (Clovis, N.M./Clovis HS) is a 5-10 guard, and a ESPN HoopGurlz five-star recruit. Williams, rated the seventh-best guard, and 38th-best player, in the 2015 class by ESPN, is a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in New Mexico, and is looking to become the state's first three-time winner this season.
Williams is averaging 25.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 steals per game this season for Clovis.
“Being nominated for the McDonald's All-American game is a big honor and it's something that has been a dream of mine,” said Williams. “I'm really excited for my future, to be a part of Texas A&M and all that it stands for.”
