Softball Opens Season at No. 24 in NFCA Preseason Poll

Texas A&M softball will begin their 2015 campaign ranked 24th by the NFCA.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M softball team will start the 2015 season with a No. 24 national ranking in the preseason USA Today/NFCA Division I Softball Poll, voted on by the country's coaches and released today.

The Aggies, who ended last season with the program's 24th trip to the NCAA tournament, finished 37-22 for the 18th season in a row with at least 30 wins.

Texas A&M is one of a national-best nine Southeastern Conference (SEC) institutions in the top 25, ranking behind No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Alabama, and No. 6 Kentucky.. Rounding out the list for the SEC are No. 12 Georgia, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 17 Missouri, No. 19 LSU and No. 20 Auburn

The Aggies' 2015 slate includes 10 teams listed among the preseason NFCA top 25, and three that are receiving votes. In addition to their ranked SEC foes, Texas A&M will face No. 2 Oregon and No. 7 UCLA. South Carolina, Cal State Fullerton and Stanford are each receiving votes, and will compete against Texas A&M this year.

The 24th-ranked Aggies start the 2015 season on Feb. 6 at the SoCal Collegiate Classic, beginning the team's search for a 14th-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and a berth to the Women's College World Series.
