No. 10 Women's Basketball Falls at No. 22 Georgia, 54-51

The Aggies dropped to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in SEC play with a 54-51 road loss at Georgia on Thursday evening.

ATHENS, Ga.- No. 10 Texas A&M fell 54-51 to No. 22 Georgia in a women's basketball game at Stegeman Coliseum Thursday.

Courtney Walker was one of three Aggies in double figures, with a team-high 12 points. Jordan Jones and Courtney Williams both had 11 points to join Walker in double figures.

Holding a 9-8 lead in the first half, Georgia (17-4, 4-2 SEC) went on an 8-0 run that gave the Lady Bulldogs a 17-8 lead with 7:32 left in the first half. Texas A&M (16-4, 4-2 SEC) responded with a 6-0 run of their own, but trailed at halftime, 27-21.

The Aggies whittled away the lead in the second half, eventually tying the game at 37 on a Jordan Jones 3-pointer with 9:47 to play. Tori Scott hit another clutch 3-pointer, giving A&M its first lead with 8:18 left in the second half. However, Georgia's Tiara Griffin expanded the Lady Bulldog lead to five with 1:38 remaining.

Courtney Williams hit a long two with 18 seconds remaining to bring the Aggies back within one, but Georgia hit their free throws on the other end and A&M's final 3-point shot to tie fell short.

The Aggies now head to No. 1 South Carolina on Monday, January 26 at 6 p.m. for a Big Monday clash on ESPN2. The women return to Reed Arena on February 1 at 2 p.m. to host Auburn.

    •This is Georgia's 18th straight win at home. Texas A&M was the last team to beat Georgia in Stegeman Coliseum, on Jan. 12, 2014.
    •This was the second game this season the Aggies did not attempt a free throw in the first half. The Aggies did not attempt a free throw in the first half in the win against LSU.
