Softball Picked Ninth in SEC Preseason Rankings

The Aggies were picked to finish ninth by the Southeastern Conference coaches.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M softball team was picked preseason ninth by the Southeastern Conference coaches, the league office announced today.

2014 National Champion Florida, ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Poll, was picked first in the SEC. The Gators are followed by 2014 national runner-up No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Georgia to round out the top five. Sixth-ranked Missouri, No. 7 Auburn and No. 8 Tennessee also stand ahead of Texas A&M. Rounding out the poll are No. 10 South Carolina, No. 11 Mississippi State, No. 12 Arkansas and No. 13 Ole Miss.

Nine of the 13 SEC softball teams appear among the nation's top-25 in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Poll. Points for the poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 basis. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. The 2015 SEC Softball Tournament will take place May 6-9 in Baton Rouge, La., at Tiger Park.

The 24th-ranked Aggies (NFCA) start the 2015 season on Feb. 6 at the SoCal Collegiate Classic in Los Angeles, beginning the team's search for a 14th-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and a berth to the Women's College World Series.
