COLLEGE STATION – Sporadic rain throughout the evening has delayed the No. 15 Texas A&M and No. 5 Ohio State men's tennis match until 10 a.m. Sunday morning at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. Rain forced a trio of delays lasting over two hours before the final deluge dictated that the match be postponed to Sunday morning.
The first 250 fans at the Mitchell Tennis Center will receive a 12th Man towel as play resumes Sunday at 10 a.m.
Saturday's doubles action began under cloudy, yet dry skies, as the Aggies captured the doubles point with a pair of wins over ranked doubles teams on courts one and two. The No. 25 duo of Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant claimed the first win of the night with a 6-4 victory over No. 5 Kevin Metka and Ralf Steinbach. The point was clinched with a 6-4 win from No. 18 Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo over No. 27 Hunter Callahan and Chris Diaz.
Singles play began with no qualms from Mother Nature as No. 96 Efferding claimed the first set from No. 66 Ralf Steinbach. Szabo matched his doubles partner's first set win with one of his own on court six over Matt Mendez.
Both Arthur Rinderknech and No. 45 Vinsant are knotted at four in the first set, against Metka and Diaz respectively. No. 53 AJ Catanzariti trails in the first set 5-2 against Callahan and No. 29 Harrison Adams dropped the first set 6-2 and is tied at one in the second against No. 89 Mikael Torpegaard.
