No. 14 Texas A&M goes to Humphrey Coliseum in a matchup with No. 17 Mississippi State in a game that's crucial for both squad's hopes in the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
The game is broadcast on SEC Network, with Cara Capuano alongside former AP Coach of the Year Gail Goestenkors for the call. The game is also available on SEC Network Plus on WatchESPN to authenticated users for viewing on computers, tablets and mobile devices.
Listeners can tune into the game on the Texas A&M Sports Network, available in Bryan-College Station on KZNE 1150 AM, with Gabe Bock and Steve Miller on the call. Fans can also tune into that broadcast on 12thMan.com or on the Radio Aggieland app.
Texas A&M and Mississippi State are both fighting for a top four seed in the SEC Tournament—which gives a bye into the quarterfinals. Mississippi State currently sits in a tie for third place at 7-3 in league, and Texas A&M sits just a half-game behind Mississippi State at 6-3. With South Carolina and Tennessee both atop the league standings with no losses so far, the four teams with three losses—A&M, Mississippi State, Kentucky and LSU, appear to be fighting for the last two byes, unless Georgia mounts a late charge at 5-5.
In addition, A&M and Mississippi State are fighting for a Top 4 seed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, which includes the rights to host First and Second Round games in a home arena. The Aggies are looking to start the NCAA Tournament at Reed Arena for the fourth consecutive season.
The Aggies have defeated two ranked teams this season, and started the year with a win at then-No. 18 DePaul. A&M is looking for its third consecutive win in league play in this game.
Mississippi State is led by former A&M assistant coach Vic Schaefer, who coached alongside Gary Blair at Texas A&M from 2003-12. Blair is 12-0 all-time against his former assistant coaches, although he lost to his former director of operations, Mike Neighbors at Washington on Dec. 29.
Freshman Victoria Vivians leads the Bulldogs with 14.6 points per game. Mississippi State started the season 18-0 before suffering their first defeat.
After this game, A&M returns to Reed Arena on Feb. 12 to host Arkansas on 12th Man Appreciation Day at 8 p.m. on SEC Network
