BIRMINGHAM – Aggie senior sprinter Kamaria Brown earned SEC Runner of the Week honors following her meet record performance this past weekend at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational.
In a meet in which the A&M seniors were recognized prior to the start of the finals, three school records and four meet records were established, six of which were accomplished by Aggie seniors.
Brown bettered her own meet record of 52.73 in the 400 meters as she posted a winning time of 52.32 to defeat a field that included Baylor's Raena Rhone (52.80) as well as Clemson's duo of Natoya Goule (53.33) and Olivia James (53.73). Brown's time is currently third best in the SEC and sixth best in the world for 2015.
On the 4x400, Brown ran the opening leg as the Aggies posted a runner-up time of 3:34.91, the American-leading time for 200-meter tracks this indoor season, behind a 3:34.77 for Clemson.
This weekend the Aggies, who remain ranked No. 4 nationally, return to Arkansas for the second time this indoor season to participate in the Tyson Invitational, which features nearly all of the teams from the SEC along with Air Force, Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech.
