SANTA ANA, Calif.- The No. 15 Texas A&M women's golf team is in third place after the first day of play at the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia, posting a 578 (+2) after playing 36 holes at the Santa Ana Country Club on Monday.
Two Aggies are in the top 10 after two rounds of place, with Marijosse Navarro sitting in a tie for second place and Maddie Szeryk in a tie for sixth. Navarro shot 72 (E) and 68 (-4) in her two rounds to shoot 140, and is two strokes back of tournament leader Gabriella Then of Southern Cal. Szeryk shot 70 (-2) and 72 (E) to post a 142 after two rounds.
As a team, the Aggies shot a 286 (-2) in Monday's first round, and 292 (+4) in the second round on the par 72, 5,903 yard course. The Aggies, with a 578 (+2) for the tournament, are one shot behind second place No. 2 Southern Cal, and No. 4 Washington leads the tournament with a 566 (-10).
Thanya Pattamakijsakul shot 71-77 to post a 148 (+4) two-round total, good for a tie for 26. Bianca Fabrizio shot 74-75, and is one shot back of Pattamakijsakul at 149 (+5) in a tie for 32nd. Andrea Jonama shot 73-80 to post a 153 (+9) and is in a tie for 48th.
