Texas A&M qualifies 16 swimmers for NCAA meet

The Aggies' 16 swimming qualifiers tied for the second-most nationally, behind only defending NCAA Champion Georgia (18 qualifiers) and tied with California.

Texas A&M appears well-equipped to post its ninth straight top 10 team finish at the 2015 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships after qualifying an impressive 16 swimmers for the national meet on Wednesday.

The Aggies' 16 swimming qualifiers tied for the second-most nationally, behind only defending NCAA Champion Georgia's 18 qualifiers and tied with California. It also matched the most swimming qualifiers in school history with the 2013-14 Aggies. Texas A&M is one of eight teams nationally with 10 or more qualifiers. The Aggies will be seeking to add to their NCAA team when the dive crew competes at the NCAA Zone D qualifier March 9-11 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Earning a spot among the 281 swimming qualifiers were seniors Sammie Bosma, Sarah Henry, Lili Ibanez and Emily Neubert, juniors Claire Brandt, Ashley McGregor and Meredith Oliver, sophomores Sarah Gibson, Franko Jonker and Sycerika McMahon and freshmen Lisa Bratton, Bethany Galat, Beryl Gastaldello, Esther Gonzalez, Kristin Malone and Laura Norman. Making return trips to NCAAs are Bosma, Henry, Ibanez, Brandt, McGregor, Oliver, Jonker and McMahon.

The 2015 NCAA Championships will be contested March 19-21 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
