Aggies Earn Two Wins and a Draw in 8-on-8 Action

The Texas A&M Aggies went 2-1-1 in four games of 8-on-8 exhibition action hosted by the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies went 2-1-1 in four games of 8-on-8 exhibition action hosted by the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday.

The Aggies were playing without the services of Mikaela Harvey who is participating in an international tournament in La Manga, Spain with the United States.

The day started with a 4-4 draw against Texas State. Texas A&M followed the tie up with a 2-0 win against Houston Baptist. Texas State beat the Aggies 3-0 and A&M closed out the action with a 3-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Haley Pounds led the Aggies in scoring on the day with three goals and two assists. Kristi Leonard added two goals and one assist and Karlie Mueller tallied two goals. Stephanie Malherbe logged two assists. Ana Cruz and Sarah Shaw accounted for one goal apiece and Grace Wright notched an assist.

In the 4-4 draw with Texas State, Pounds opened the Aggie scoring with an assist from Malherbe. Leonard scored the next two A&M goals with assists from Pounds and Malherbe. Cruz capped off the scoring in the match with an assist from Wright.

Shaw spotted A&M a 1-0 lead against HBU with an assist from Pounds. Pounds followed with an unassisted goal for the 2-0 margin.

In the 3-1 win against A&M-Corpus Christi, Mueller sandwiched unassisted goals around a tally by Pounds.

Texas A&M returns to action on March 28 with a 7-on-7 event that includes Lamar and Prairie View. The Aggies wrap up the spring with full-side scrimmages against Incarnate Word (April 4) and Sam Houston State (April 7).
