Madison Hudkins, from Murrieta, Calif., earned a trip to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career after rolling to a 12-dive point total of 617.50 at the Zone D Championships.

Iowa City, Iowa --- Texas A&M sophomore Madison Hudkins became the Aggies' 17th qualifier for the 2015 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships with a runner-up finish in the one-meter dive on Tuesday at the Zone D Diving Championships at the University of Iowa.

Hudkins, from Murrieta, Calif., earned a trip to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career after rolling to a 12-dive point total of 617.50, which was just off the pace set by winner Yu Zhou of Minnesota (645.60). Among the divers finishing behind Hudkins was Southeastern Conference one-meter champion Alexandra Bettridge of LSU and Big 12 one-meter winner Emma Ivory-Ganja of Texas.

"I am so excited," Hudkins said. "After an off day yesterday (in the three-meter dive), I was extremely happy to go into the one-meter competition today and compete the way I know how. It's a great honor and a great opportunity for me to compete with 16 of my teammates at the NCAA Championships. I couldn't be happier!"

In other action, A&M sophomore Courtney Hattie finished 32nd with a score of 241.40 and sophomore Destine'e O'Neal was 45th with a 213.45 point total.
