No. 21 Texas A&M tips off its 10th straight NCAA Tournament Appearance against UALR on Saturday, March 21 in Tempe, Ariz. The Aggies are one of five schools who have won an NCAA First Round game each of the past eight seasons.
The game is broadcast on ESPN2, with the entire state of Arkansas and Texas receiving full coverage of the game. The rest of the nation will see either a regionally protected game or “whip-around” coverage of all games going on at that time. Fans outside of Texas and Arkansas can view the A&M game on WatchESPN.com. Dave Pasch and Debbie Antonelli have the call of the game.
The game is also available on the Texas A&M Sports Network to radio listeners, with Bret Dark and Steve Miller on the call. Fans can access that broadcast on WTAW 1620 or the Radio Aggieland app.
The Aggies are 21-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament which ranks seventh all-time among Division I programs. The Aggies are led by Courtney Walker and Courtney Williams, who averaged 19.0 and 15.0 points per game respectively in last season's NCAA Tournament.
UALR enters the game as Sun Belt Tournament Champions, and are coached by Joe Foley, who like Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair, is a member of the state of Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Foley and Blair rank eighth and ninth on the active career wins list, and both are closing in on 700 career wins—Foley sits at 699 entering this game, while Blair is at 695.
The winner of this game takes on the winner of the Arizona State/Ohio game on Monday, March 23 at 8 p.m. CT in the NCAA Second Round in Tempe, Ariz.
