Long Earns SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week Recognition

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M junior right-hander Grayson Long was tabbed SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week, sharing the award with Missouri's Reggie McClain, the league announced on Monday. It marked the second time in three weeks Long earned SEC Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Long was recognized for his performance in Friday's 4-2 win against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The victory was the 23rd consecutive win for the Aggies, tying the SEC record.

The Mont Belvieu, Texas native was brilliant in his 6.0 innings of work, striking out 14 of the 23 batters he faced. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks while racking up his career-high strikeout tally. At one point in the contest, Long recorded nine consecutive strikeouts.

After a rough outing to start the year, Long is 5-0 in his last five starts. He owns a 0.87 ERA, allowing five runs, three earned, on 19 hits and eight walks while striking out 38 during in 31.0 innings during the stretch.

For his career, Long is 15-4 with a 3.02 ERA, registering 136 strikeouts in 170.0 innings of work.

Long is the first Aggie pitcher to earn multiple SEC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Texas A&M is off to a 24-1 start and the Aggies are tied atop the SEC standings with a 5-1 mark in league action. The Maroon and White return to action Tuesday when they travel to San Antonio for a 6:30 pm contest against the UTSA Roadrunners at Wolff Stadium.
