#4 Equestrian Opens SEC Championship Against South Carolina - #TopTen

COLLEGE STATION - The No. 4 Texas A&M Equestrian team plays host to the 2015 SEC Equestrian Championship this weekend, taking on the two seed South Carolina in the first round on Friday. Here are the #TopTen things you need to know before then:

1. As the FIRST season in the Hildebrand Equine Complex comes to a close, the Texas A&M equestrian team can look back at their most successful season since winning the National Championship in 2012. The team finished the regular season at 7-5, more than tripling last year's win total.
2. The last time these two programs met, the Aggies defeated the then NO. 2 Gamecocks 11-8, the highest ranked victory of the season for A&M. This loss was also South Carolina's only loss of the spring.
3. This is the THIRD year of the SEC Equestrian Championship and Texas A&M has finished fourth both of the previous years. The Gamecocks, on the other hand, have won the last two titles, including a tiebreaker over Georgia in 2014.
4. A&M currently ranks FOURTH in the NCEA rankings. If the Aggies hold a No. 4 ranking heading into Nationals, they will earn a first round bye.
5. Last time A&M faced the Gamecocks, they clinched victory with a FIVE WIN SWEEP in reining. Sarah Kate Grider, Hannah Jechow, Laura Sumrall, Logan Pluhar and Jaci Marley, who won her first MOP honors of her career, went a perfect 5-0 to finish off the win.
6. This is the Aggies' SIXTH consecutive and tenth overall top ten match up this season, with the Aggies winning three of their last five ranked contests.
7. The Aggies are 7-0 in their home arena this year, including victories over No. 2 South Carolina, No. 4 Auburn and No. 5 Georgia.
8. This is the Aggies' EIGHTH top-10 match up during the 2014-15 season.
9. South Carolina leads the conference with NINE victories to only three losses this season, with four conference wins. The Gamecocks are 4-2 away from home and look to challenge the Aggies' perfect home record.
10. Senior Laura Sumrall and sophomore Kaci Fisher currently lead the Aggies with TEN WINS apiece. Sixteen members of the squad hold winning records this seasons.
