Gastaldello wins 100 backstroke at French Nationals

With the win, Gastaldello earned a berth to the 2015 FINA World Championships for the second straight day.

Limoges, France --- Texas A&M freshman swimmer Béryl Gastaldello (Miramas, France) won the women's 100-meter backstroke at the French Long Course National Championships on Wednesday.

Gastaldello, who helped lead the Aggies to a fourth-place team finish at the NCAA Championships two weeks ago, touched first in the race in a time of 1:00.54. With the win, Gastaldello earned a berth to the 2015 FINA World Championships for the second straight day. On Tuesday, Gastaldello qualified for the World Championships with a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly in a time of 58.57. Both of Gastaldello's times were lifetime bests.
