COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M Aggies host the Sam Houston State Bearkats in a 7-on-7 exhibition match at Ellis Field on Tuesday evening. First kick for the Aggies' final event of the spring session is slated for 7 pm.
The Aggies will try to build on the momentum they've established in dominating performances each of the last two Saturdays. Last Saturday, Texas A&M overwhelmed Incarnate Word, 7-2, in 7-on-7 play. Two Saturdays ago, the Aggies thwarted Lamar (8-0) and Sam Houston State (7-2) in 7-on-7 matches.
On March 7, the Maroon and White went 2-1-1 in 8-on-8 action against Houston Baptist, Texas State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi playing in San Marcos without U.S. Under-20 National Team member Mikaela Harvey. The Aggies opened the spring with wins over McNeese State (4-2) and Texas State (7-1) in 7-on-7 play February 21.
Texas A&M are coming of a 2014 campaign in which the team captured the SEC regular-season title and won the SEC Tournament title, becoming the first team to earn the SEC Double in back-to-back years since Florida in 2001. The Aggies earned a bid to their 20th consecutive NCAA tournament, advancing to the Final Four before falling to Virginia. A&M finished the season ranked fifth in the nation with a 22-3-2 record (9-1-1 SEC).
