Limoges, France --- Texas A&M freshman swimmer Béryl Gastaldello (Miramas, France) had a breakthrough performance at the French Long Course National Championships last week with six top three finishes, including three victories.
Gastaldello, who helped lead the Aggies to a fourth-place team finish at the NCAA Championships last month, also qualified to represent her home country in five events at the 2015 FINA World Championships, which will be contested in Kazan, Russia July 25-August 9. Gastaldello qualified to represent France in the 50 and 100 backstroke, the 50 and 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle.
During the six-day French Nationals, Gastaldello posted wins in the 50-meter backstroke (French national record 28.10), 100m back (1:00.54) and the 50m fly (25.92). She was second in the 100m fly (58.57) and the 100 free (53.98), and was third in the 50 free (25.41).
