COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M volleyball team concludes its spring exhibition Saturday at the Lone Star Classic College Showcase at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center Arena in Dallas.
The Aggies are scheduled to play three matches, all against their former Big 12 Conference foes. A&M opens against Oklahoma at 10 a.m. and then takes on Texas at noon. The Aggies close out the tournament against Baylor at 2 p.m.
A&M swept both Baylor and Oklahoma during its run to a 3-0 record at the F.A.S.T. Complex Collegiate Invitational in Houston last weekend.
Others competing in the one-day tournament are Arkansas State, North Texas, Oklahoma Baptist, Southern Nazarene, Texas Tech, Texas Woman's University and UTSA.
All matches will be best 2-out-of-3 sets.
The tournament is a homecoming of sorts for several members on the Texas A&M squad who hail from the Dallas metroplex: senior-to-be middle blocker Shelby Sullivan from Richardson, junior-to-be outside hitter Emily Hardesty from Plano, and freshman early enrollee and middle blocker/opposite hitter Kaitlyn Blake from Allen.
Texas A&M head coach Laurie Corbelli, who is entering her 23rd season at the helm of the Aggies, returns 11 letterwinners -- including all six starters and the libero -- from last year's team that went 21-9, advanced to the NCAA tournament for a fourth consecutive year and was No. 22 in the final national RPI rankings.
